I am humbled to be able to artistically express myself in ‘Maureen’s Retreat’ by designer Josh Hildreth, at the Aspire House, Mclean.
I asked Josh to give me a brief on his design, he wanted black frames and natural linen.
Maureen’s favourite place was her garden, this was a perfect place to start, I had antique Victorian frames, that I had sourced, waiting for this very purpose.
The linen is a natural material, representing the earth, the mother of pearl represents being a mother of two, shaped like wings and presented as leaves. Maureen is her cameo, looking out into her garden at a beautiful majestical flower, as it reaches out, in full bloom.
The single crisp white pearl is lily of the valley, her favourite of all flowers, and finally the three green freshwater pearls which are for Ireland and her three loves.
The second framed cameo is in an oval frame, both were selected for their feminine shape’s. The cameo is floating on a bed of mother of pearl, for all those people in her life and the fun person, she was.
